The guest list has been invited, the table has been set, and everyone will be arriving any minute to shower the new puppy with love and help him and his puppy parent feel loved.

IDEA: If you'd prefer that your guests not bring gifts, ask that a small donation be made to your local animal shelter. |
Here are a few ideas for games to play at a puppy shower to help make sure your guests have a memorable time:
Who's Who? Game. Before the puppy shower, ask each guest to provide you with a baby picture of themselves and/or a picture of their dog when he was a brand new puppy. Carefully arrange all of the pictures in a safe location (your guests will likely want their pictures back undamaged!) and place a number next to each picture. Some time during the puppy shower (for instance, when everyone first arrives, or while everyone is eating and socializing), invite each guest to view the collection of photos and attempt to match each guest and each puppy to the correct individual and dog.
How We Met. Everyone loves to tell the story of how they fell in love! As your guests arrive, give them a piece of paper and ask them to write a brief (or not so brief!) story of how they met and fell in love with their dog. Make sure they write it annonymously, not using any names! When all the guests have written their "love stories" number them. Now, give each guest ANOTHER piece of paper and write numbers 1 - however many stories there are. The host then reads the stories one at a time, and each guest must decide who belongs to which story. After all the stories have been read, go back through the stories and have each person say which is there's. Whoever gets the most right, wins.
Puppy Shower Bingo Game. Each puppy shower guest is given a bingo card (or "Maggie" card, or "Bruno" card, or "Sophie" card, depending on the name of the new puppy) that contains a grid of randomly placed words that are associated with puppies and dogs. (Some ideas.... puppy, collar, leash, chew toy, unconditional love, pooper scooper, piddle, house training, vet, water bowl, dog bed, walks, fire hydrant, bones, paw prints, etc.) These same words are written on small pieces of paper that are then placed into a hat (or a bowl). The hostess then draws these words one at a time from the hat, reading then aloud. The guests mark off the words on their bingo cards as they are read. The first guest to mark off a complete line (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) shouts "Bingo!" (or "Maggie!" or "Sophie!" or whatever the new puppy's name is) is the winner of the game.
Puppy Shower Word Scramble. Each puppy shower guest is given a sheet of paper containing scrambled words that relate to puppies and/or dogs (words such as puppy, collar, chew toy, leash, unconditional love, pooper scooper, piddle, house training, vet, water bowl, dog bed, walks, fire hydrant, bones, paw prints, etc.). Give your guests a set amount of time (5-10 minutes) to unscramble as many words as they can. Whoever unscrambles the most words is the winner of the game.
Puppy-Opoly and Dog-Opoly. Dog-Opoly and Puppy-Opoly are some fun board games that guests of all ages can enjoy!
