Gift Ideas for the Dog-Lover on Your List
By Lisa Pallardy
The holidays are upon us…only a short time left to shop! If you have a dog-lover on your gift list, why not go with that theme? Most any item you can imagine can be found with a dog motif, so if you’ve got a dog-lover on your list, your gift shopping just got easier! Here are some ideas to get you started:
Picture frames. Most dog owners are crazy about their dogs, so a picture frame dedicated to holding a photo of your friend’s four-legged baby would be a wonderful gift! There are so many styles to choose from! Sterling silver, plastic, wooden, colorful, engraved, and more.
Many companies online today offer breed-specific gifts, so if your friend is a bone-a-fide Doxie lover, or has more than one poodle, or a few labradors running around his house, a breed-themed gift would be a terrific idea.
What about a photo purse for a female friend? There are some incredibly classy purses available where you can have an actual photo printed directly onto the purse, or just find a purse that has an adorable dog on it, embellished with beautiful sequins and other gems. If a purse isn’t quite what you have in mind, what about a tote bag, with a dog pictured on the outside.
Coffee mugs and ball caps with dogs on them are always a good, affordable choice, especially if choosing a gift for an office gift exchange, because these items are useful and low cost, while still being personal.
Another low-cost, but personal, gift for a dog-lover you know might be stationery or notecards. These can have a generic dog theme to them, or even have a photo of your friend’s dog printed right onto them!
Dog lover apparel is a fun choice, too. You can find a fun assortment of t-shirts, sweatshirts, ladies night shirts, even children’s clothing, that has pictures of dogs, or humorous dog themes printed on them, like “Piddle happens” and “Dog is my co-pilot.” Dog lover apparel can be a wonderful gift for a friend who “speaks dog.”
If you’re wanting to spend a bit more, jewelry for the dog lover is another option. What about a charm bracelet, custom made for your friend, with charms like a dog-bone, a paw print, and even a dog! These are available in a wide price range, from low-cost plastic to real gemstones.
An embroidered pillow for Mom would be a great gift! There are some companies that sell breed specific embroidered pillows, which would be a unique gift for the dog-lover on your list.
Once you get started looking around, you might be surprised at all you can find available for your dog-loving friend (or maybe even for yourself!).
